Baking for Christmas at the last minute: it's possible!

Christmas holidays should be, above all, a holiday of peace and tranquility for the whole family. It should. But hand on heart, is it really? Many of us struggle with the annual frenzy around shopping, cleaning and baking and cooking. And then some of us even sit on the bathroom tiles and secretly swallow our tears because no one appreciates it. Dear ladies, since we at Mammacenter are women too and have families of our own, we've gathered some of our tips for you to relieve yourself at least in the kitchen. For example, did you know that you can make gingerbread at the last minute? Honey gingerbread, soft right awaythat's our salvation for the last Sunday of Advent. They are so quick and easy to prepare that even the kids can handle it. Tried and tested 🙂

Recipe:

  • 600 g plain flour
  • 250 g sugar
  • 200 g butter
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 pr to per
  • teaspoon gingerbread spice

Mix the ingredients and make a smooth dough. Each flour binds the wet ingredients of the dough differently, so if you feel the dough is too sticky, don't hang your head and add a little more. (A very good flour for gingerbread is called Grandma's Choice for yeast dough. It has just the right amount of gluten (33 % in dry matter) and boasts Type Number T530, so it is of very high baking quality.) Once made, roll out the dough to 3-5 millimetres, cut out the desired shapes of similar size with a mould and pop in the oven. Bake at 150°-170°C for 5-7 minutes. Immediately after removing from the oven, brush the gingerbread with egg white and leave to cool. Keep the gingerbread in a container, it will harden in the air.

I decorated the gingerbread with my daughter, and despite all the Christmas conventions, we made a gingerbread house together. Besides, family time is more important than polished glasses. And besides, even icing can be bought... And what ideas do you have? Show us your ideas on our facebook.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and don't worry if you miss something. Even with unwashed windows, the sun will come out on December 25 🙂
