Non-malignant Breast Diseases

= disease or changes without the presence of cancer cells. We can divide them into two groups:

There is no risk of them turning cancerous in the future

  1. Inflammations of the breast – typical during lactation and also beyond. In most cases, signs of inflammation are present (redness, pain, swelling, fever and the affected area is hot). Treatment consists of the administration of antibiotics.
  2. Benign lesions
    1. Cysts(cavities filled with hormonal contents, sometimes their contents are emptied by puncture if it causes discomfort to the patient)
    2. Fibroadenom(benign ball of multiplied connective tissue), lipoma (formation of adipose tissue)
    3. Lipom - a formation of adipose tissue.
  3. Congenital anomalies– congenital inverted nipples, breast underdevelopment or lateral asymmetry. This is an aesthetic problem, possibly solvable by plastic surgery.
  4. Gynecomastia – enlargement of the mammary gland in men. The cause is often hormonal in nature.
  5. Mastopathy – change in the shape of the glandular body of the breast, sometimes accompanied by increased breast pain.

The potential for a reversal in the case of a tumor disease cannot be ruled out

Multiple papillomatosis
ADH - atypical ductal hyperplasia
Phyllodes tumor

All these findings are surgically removed as a precaution.
